“Nulla dies sine linea – but there may be weeks,” sagde Walter Benjamin. Disse ord kendetegner også Dorthe Jørgensens biografi. I 1983 debuterede hun som akademisk forfatter. Hendes første artikel var en krads kritik af den behandling, Jürgen Habermas udsatte æstetikken for i sin Theorie des kommunikativen Handelns. Siden har hun publiceret 205 tekster, heraf 23 bøger, og hun er eneforfatter af langt de fleste. Hendes udgivelser handler om æstetik, etik, metafysik, hermeneutik, fænomenologi, teologi, religionsfilosofi, historiefilosofi, videnskabsfilosofi, erfaringsfilosofi og filosofier om dannelse og uddannelse.

I 2016 tildelt Dansk Forfatterforenings Faglitterære Pris for sit samlede forfatterskab.

“Nulla dies sine linea – but there may well be weeks,” said Walter Benjamin. These words also characterize Dorthe Jørgensen’s biography. In 1983, she made her debut as an academic writer. Her first book chapter was a harsh critique of Jürgen Habermas’s treatment of aesthetics in his Theorie des kommunikativen Handelns. Since then, she has published 205 texts, including 23 books, most of which are single-authored. Her publications deal with topics in aesthetics, ethics, metaphysics, hermeneutics, phenomenology, theology, and the philosophies of religion, history, science, experience, education, and formation.
Dorthe Jørgensen’s biography include cooperation with people from many different professions and most of society. They include artists, writers, architects, designers, and musicians; all kinds of academics; priests and university theologians, teachers and pedagogues, politicians, and union workers. As a teacher, Dorthe Jørgensen has prioritized dialogue by establishing experimental forums such as “Saloon Art and Aesthetics”, the “Metaphysical Laboratory”, and “Phenomenology in Praxis”.

In 2014, her work Den skønne tænkning was nominated by videnskab.dk for the Research Award of the Year and awarded the award Honorable Mention. In 2016, awarded the Danish Writer’s Assocation’s Non-fiction Award for her collected works.
